Needham Bank Grand Prix Logo V1Welcome to the 2018 Needham Bank Grand Prix Series of 5K road races! This series is comprised of FIVE Needham 5K road races: JANUARY 1 (New Years Day 5K), MAY 20 (Great Bear Run), JULY 4 (Charles River YMCA July 4th 5K) SEPTEMBER 16 (Jog Your Memory 5K  and NOVEMBER 18 (BIGGSteps 5K).

Leaderboard Has now been fianlized for 2018 with both actual & age graded top 10 runners. Winners for 2018 have been highlighted. Congratulations and thanks to all that ran 1,2,3,4, or 5 of the Needham races!


The FIFTH AND FINAL race in the 2018 series was the BiggSteps 5K which was held on November 18th, 2018. Congrats to all who ran it!

The first race of the 2019 Needham Bank Grand Prix Series is the 2019 Needham New Years Day 5K held on … New Years Day @ 11 AM! Click HERE for more information and to register. First 300 to register receive an very nice and warm pair of lined mittens! These will be sold out!

2019 Series

FIVE RACES: As per years past, if you run each of these 5K road races, you will receive a complimentary gift courtesy of Needham Bank and become a recognized member of the 545 (formerely the 444) club!

OPEN PRIZE MONEY:  We take the best average 5Ks for those who have run at least THREE of the FIVE races. If you run at least 3 of the 5 races, you we will be eligible. As we average your BEST 3 race times (out of 3,4, or 5 races), you are never out of the running all the way to the end of the year! Prize breakdown below.

AGE GRADED PRIZE MONEY: More prize money opportunities! We will now calculate each runner’s age-graded score and, similar to a 5K time for the Open division, compare the top FIVE age-graded scores amongst those who have run at least 3 of the 5 races. NOTE: Winners of the OPEN PRIZE MONEY category (above) are NOT eligible for this prize. Prize breakdown below.


INTRODUCTION: This is the official site of Needham Bank’s Grand Prix Series of five races run in Needham,MA.

Needham Bank has generously helped support the creation of this event. The purpose of this series is to encourage runners and walkers to experience the different neighborhoods of Needham, while promoting health and exercise throughout the year. An additional benefit is to support various local charities and services throughout Needham.

RACES: The following five races comprise the Needham Gran Prix Series. For more information about each race, to register and for results of that race, please click the race link below:

  1. Needham New Years Day 5K (January 1st, 2019)
  2. Great Bear Run (May 2019)
  3. Charles River YMCA 4th Of July 5K (July 4th, 2019)
  4. Jog Your Memory 5K (September 2019)
  5. BIGGSteps 5K (November 2019)

TOP 3 MEN AND WOMEN PRIZES: The top three men and women runners who complete THREE out of the FIVE races will be eligible for cash prizes based on the average of their top three times for each race. A total of $1700 will be divided among the Male and Female runners as follows:

  1. First Place: $500 (M&F)
  2. Second Place: $250 (M&F)
  3. Third Place: $100 (M&F)

AGE GRADED PRIZES: New for 2018 is Age Graded prize money of $520 for the top FIVE Male & Female Runners. NOTE: The “Top Three Men and Women Prize” winners” (see above) are NOT eligible for this prize. This allows more runners to win money for their hard earned efforts:

  1. First Place: $100 (M&F)
  2. Second Place: $75 (M&F)
  3. Third Place: $50 (M&F)
  4. Fourth Place: $25 (M&F)
  5. Fifth Place $10 (M&F)

SERIES FINISHER (the 545/444 Club): ALL official runners who complete ALL races in the Needham Bank Series and run FIVE for FIVE (545) of the races will be recognized for their accomplishment and become a member of the 545 Club (formerly 444 club).
